New Buy Local! Map Well Received
Huron County – The newest edition of the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Map has had great reviews so far across the County. The 3rd edition of the popular map features venues to get locally grown food across Huron and Perth Counties. The map has expanded again and now lists 107 producers, including 27 new additions.
The map includes where to buy local food such as vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, baked goods and maple syrup. New on this year’s map is goat cheese, water buffalo, mushrooms and locally roasted coffees. In addition to producers, the map highlights restaurants which celebrate and serve local foods. The map also includes seasonal attractions and tour information.
The 2011 edition of the map was launched in early August and has been highlighted at several events since, including the Taste of Huron. “We're really excited about the new edition - it's expanded quite a bit and response has been great,” says Jenna Ujiye, Tourism Marketer for the County of Huron, ”Huron County residents are coming to rely on the map as a great way to support buying local products from local producers."
You can pick up a map at many locations throughout the county, search the map online at www.huronperthfarmtotable.ca or contact Laura Armstrong at the Huron County Health Unit to get maps for your organization 1-877-837-6143.
The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! initiative is a partnership of the Huron Perth Farm to Table committee as well as producers themselves.
