2013 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo
100th Anniversary Plowing Match!
"Come Celebrate With Us" - September 17 - 21, 2013
Celebrate 100 years of plowing history! The country's largest outdoor show comes to Perth County.
Come celebrate the 2013 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo being held in Perth County. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Plowing Match. Celebrate the link between furrow and food. Celebrate the rich heritage of the agricultural way of life. Celebrate Perth County's rural past and experience the excitement of emerging opportunities for agriculture and for our communities.
West Perth is proud to act as host of the IPM, and looks forward to working together for the kind of successful plowing match Perth County is known for. With over 400 hectares of land to plow, land to hold vehicles of the estimated 25,000 visitors each day, and land to showcase the farming businesses, tourist attractions, social talents, and rural family life of the local Perth County community, West Perth is the perfect location for the 2013 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.
For five days in the third week of September, 2013, all roads will lead to Nulandia Dairy Farm, 5755 Line 36, West Perth, Perth County - just northwest of Mitchell (click icon for a map.) A Tented City will rise up from the grassroots of the fertile soil. Across from Tented City will be an RV Park laid out as camp sites. An estimated 1500 plus RV vehicles will bring visitors to this RV Park and more than 1000 volunteers to the 2013 IPM will be on hand to welcome them in the RV Park and in Tented City.
For many visitors, the 100th anniversary of the first International Plowing Match and Rural Expo will be a new experience. The connection between furrow and food takes centre stage.
Following coloured road signs to a parking spot in an open field, climbing into a wagon for the ride to the edge of Tented City, taking in, first-hand, the sounds and smells of farm animals and farm vehicles will be breathtaking, to say the least.
Seasoned visitors - those who travel to plowing matches year after year - look for the Plowing Match friends they have made over the years. No matter where the match is held in Ontario, seasoned visitors are part of the instant RV community that comes to life while the annual match is held. These campers register for the same numbered site in the RV Park, year after year, so friends and family know where they are. For these visitors, the annual plowing match means day time plowing and evenings filled with music, food, and social times.
During the week of the Plowing Match, the Perth County Visitors' Association is offering four very special bus tours exploring the communities of Perth County. For more information and to register, visit the Perth County Bus Tour page.
