This historic highway - #8 west of the Hamlet of Shakespeare is a route to countryside and coastline communities that will charm visitors into slowing down. Villages with architectural gems, businesses and homes along with restaurants and welcoming bed and breakfast inns are all part of the charms of countryside travel.
The routes and themes offer an amazing array of stops and shops, that welcomes browsers and grazers, travelers with a little time to slow down and relax: tour, taste and linger!
The Taste Trek brochure lists locations offering specialty foods to enjoy right now, or to tuck into a cooler and take home for later dining events. The Side Tours offer routes that loop into the countryside north and south of the highway, enticing visitors to this SW Ontario region to find communities that are new to them, along with special events that happen throughout the four seasons.
Travellers can explore the themed routes: Antiques & Collectibles, Artisans & Art Galleries, Farm Markets, Gardens & Gardeners' Dreams, Historic Stops and Attractions, Live Theatre & Performances, Nature Walks, Dining and Accommodation.
The new Fashion Trek brochure will provide canny consumers with a list of boutiques featuring women's fashions and accessories in villages and towns along the routes.
The Shakespeare to the Shoreline routes pass through communities including Stratford, Mitchell, Seaforth, St. Marys, Goderich and Bayfield. Head north and visit Wingham, Listowel, Atwood, Brussels, Blyth, Lucknow, Millbank and Milverton. Travel south to explore St. Marys, Exeter, Hensall, Zurich, Varna, St. Joseph and Bayfield.
