William D. Coleman will examine the conflicting effects of
globalization on indigenous peoples. On the one side, globalizing processes accelerate the dispossession of lands and resources long experienced by such peoples. On the other side, other globalizing processes have opened up possibilities for building indigenous coalitions across the world.
