Stepping Back in Time - Perth County's Amish Community
Perth County is home to the largest Amish population in Canada. If you're interested in seeing the Amish way of life, there are many Amish stores that you can visit which display a wide variety of handcrafted quilts, furniture, antiques, collectibles, crafts, gifts, hardware, garden centre, meats, cheese and fruits of the finest quality. If you travel out to Perth East on a Sunday late morning you should encounter many of them coming home from church and it is quite interesting to see.
Be sure to stop for a meal at Anne Mae’s which is a very famous Amish Restaurant, recently featured on the Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here.
Please take note that these stores are not open on Sundays.
